ORGANIC tempeh at ALLBIO

Tempeh is a fermented soy product that comes from Indonesia. Similar to tofu, which is better known outside of Asia, tempeh can be marinated and seasoned very well because it has a mild (slightly nutty) taste and takes on seasoning well. Tempeh is a good source of protein and has the advantage over soy that the proteins are broken down by the fermentation process and are therefore easier to digest. Tempeh is a real gift for anyone who eats a purely plant-based or primarily plant-based diet. Thanks to its unobtrusive taste and great versatility, tempeh can be used in a wide variety of ways. Tempeh is fried or deep-fried and then takes on a tender, crumbly consistency. Due to its high protein content, tempeh is wonderfully filling.
If you don’t know Tempeh yet, you should definitely try this great product – preferably in organic quality, of course.
The ALLBIO range includes various exciting types of tempeh with exciting flavors. In addition to the traditional soy tempeh, we also stock lupine tempeh.

Organic Lupine Tempeh Wild Herbs
It doesn't always have to be a classic tempeh made from soybeans - for anyone looking for alternatives to soy, lupins are a very interesting food that has been increasingly used for some time (for example, there are already lupin drinks and desserts made from lupins and here in the ALLBIO range you can find lupin spreads and even pasta made from lupins). The excellent properties of lupins (also known as wolf beans or fig beans) make them a great vegan substitute for milk and meat products. Basic protein and essential amino acids are particularly worth mentioning as valuable ingredients in lupins. The organic manufacturer "tempehmanufaktur" has also discovered lupine for tempeh and has created the organic lupine tempeh wild herbs variety. Selected wild herbs such as wild garlic, nettle greens and dandelion leaves make this organic tempeh a healthy delicacy.

Organic Lupine Tempeh Wilde Hilde
Another tempeh variant made from lupins is the variety Organic Lupine Tempeh Wilde Hilde: Behind the intriguing name lies a tempeh with a mild herb and spice mixture according to Hildegard von Bingen, in which, among other things, thyme, nutmeg, galangal and sage have been combined.

organic lupine tempeh natural
Of course, the organic lupine tempeh is also available as a neutral variant, which you can season as you wish.

organic tofu at ALLBIO

Tofu also comes from Asia, but has long been very popular in the West as a direct alternative to meat, and this popularity continues despite the fact that other alternatives have become increasingly available in recent years.
The author Doris Iding writes in an article that appeared in the magazine YOGA AKTUELL: "We have the Chinese to thank for the fact that we can enjoy soya today in the form of tofu & co. It is said that the Taoist prince Huanin of the Han Dynasty was searching for the elixir of eternal life there around 200 BC. At first he tried life-threatening mixtures of cinnabar or poisonous mercury. When these did not have the desired effect, he mixed mashed soya beans with salt. The protein coagulation that took place there did not give him the elixir of life, but it did give him the first tofu. Another legend tells that the Chinese cook Lin An added a pinch of sea salt too much to his soya stew, which caused it to curdle and the first tofu was created. However, Buddhist monks, who, like many yogis, do not eat meat, played a major role in the spread of tofu. On the other hand, they gave tofu a high priority as a sattvic food. A few centuries later, the process of making tofu finally made its way from China to Korea and Japan. Today, there are countless medium-sized tofu factories all over Asia that produce fresh produce every day - a counterpart to a German bakery. It's no wonder that the soy plant, with so much healthy content, has made it to the top of organic shops and is now presented in a variety of forms."

The article continues: “In Asia, tofu is called the ‘meat of the field’. It is divided into the following categories:
Vacuum-packed tofu: Ready-made tofu is usually vacuum-packed. Once opened, you can simply cover it with water and store it in the fridge for up to a week. The water should be changed frequently, however. Tofu is tasteless and takes on any flavor. It is often marinated in soy sauce and fried like meat. But it can also be bought fried, grilled or smoked.Silky, soft and fermented tofu: Tofu that contains a lot of water is called silken tofu. Its consistency is creamy like pudding. Fermented tofu from a can or jar is the only tofu product with a strong flavor of its own. It is mainly used as a seasoning.

The ALLBIO range includes natural tofu, which you can marinate and season as you wish. We also stock aromatic smoked tofu with almonds and sesame in organic quality.
